I'm Steve, creator of Pixel Brick

I'm Steve, creator of Pixel Brick, a craft business dedicated to creating LEGO brick artwork from images converted into pixel art.

Passionate about graphic design, pop culture and contemporary art, I decided to merge my passions to offer a unique concept: LEGO art in wall format.

For several years, I have been developing a creative method combining pixelation techniques, manual composition, and meticulous assembly of LEGO pieces.

Each work is designed as a visual experience that is at once retro, modern and very personal.

Building with LEGO, inspired by the demands and elegance of No. 23

Like Michael Jordan, whose precision, discipline and style have marked generations, each work I design at Pixel Brick-SR follows the same requirement: excellence in detail.

Creating a portrait or iconic scene in LEGO is not just about assembling bricks: it is a true artistic composition, thought out pixel by pixel, color by color.

I start by transforming the image into a pixelated version, in order to bring out the essential shapes and powerful contrasts, as one would do with a frozen moment of a legendary dunk.

Then, I carefully select the available LEGO shades, playing with shadows, lights, and subtle gradients to give character and relief to the work.

Some pieces are chosen not only for their color, but also for their shape: flat, angular, rounded... in order to create volume, movement, and recall the energy of the gesture - like Jordan in suspension.

Each painting thus becomes a living fresco, where the LEGO brick becomes a material of expression, and where the inspiration of No. 23 is embodied in mastery, passion and visual impact.

The steps

The construction: a meticulous composition between color, relief and emotion

Every piece I create at Pixel Brick is the result of precise craftsmanship, combining graphic technique, choice of LEGO pieces, and an artistic sense of detail.

It all starts with an analysis of the original image, which I translate into a pixelated version.

This process allows for the simplification of shapes while preserving contrasts, striking features and the visual identity of the subject.

The choice of colors is then essential: I use a limited but expressive palette of LEGO shades, in order to recreate shadows, lights, subtle gradients, while respecting readability from a distance.

Some pieces are selected for their specific shape, allowing me to play on volume, depth and texture, thus creating relief effects that make the image vibrate.

I then proceed to install it on the frame. I then have to glue the Lego pieces onto a black background and order the custom frame.

I use Côté Cadre in Angers to make my frames. A small shop in Angers with unbeatable value for money.

The shooting: Passage in the photo studio to then allow the limited edition printing of each painting.

In the hands of a professional photographer for a perfect result.

Then choose your print on photo paper or on plexiglass in the original dimensions of the painting.

Only 23 copies of each painting.

The result: LEGO wall paintings with a pixelated yet vibrant appearance, where each brick has its place, each color its role, and each work its own visual intensity.

The table is ready to be:

  • rent for its original version to enhance your professional offices.
  • sold in limited edition on photo paper or plexiglass for you, your loved ones or your business.

If you hit a wall, don't turn around and don't give up.

You have to understand how to climb over, cross, or get around the problem.”
